Fire & Water: A Tale of Two Vineyards

Cellar Experience Dates: Thursday, November 21 Time: 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM Host: Marcus Notaro
Venue: Stag's Leap Wine Cellars | Map Price: $100

About the Event

Sitting side-by-side on the Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars estate are S.L.V. and FAY, two of Napa Valley’s most iconic estate vineyards. S.L.V. brought acclaim and attention to California when 3-year-old vines from the vineyard produced a wine that bested some of France’s great Bordeaux in an historic tasting known as The Judgment of Paris.  FAY Vineyard was planted in 1961 by pioneering grape grower Nathan Fay, who bucked the establishment and planted Cabernet in Stags Leap District, an area thought to be too cool a climate for Cabernet by the common wisdom of the day. In this immersive experience, you’ll tour these historic vineyards with Winemaker Marcus Notaro to understand why two adjoining vineyards have such unique properties — one known for “fire” and the other for “water” elements.  You’ll be the first to taste from barrel the 2012 and 2013 vintages to see how they are progressing.  Finally, you’ll retire to our caves for a hearty, harvest table meal paired with both current releases and library wines.  From vineyard to table, you’ll experience for yourself how Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars has earned a reputation for cellar-worthy wines.
