About The Napa Valley

The Napa Valley is home to the founders of America’s fine wine industry – legendary entrepreneurs who showed the world that the art of winemaking had crossed continents – and is prized for its natural beauty, phenomenal culinary scene, world-class hotel accommodations, robust arts community, and one-of-a-kind wellness experiences including the region’s famed spas, mud baths and healing geo-thermal springs.  The area was voted the World’s #1 Food & Wine Destination in the 2010 TripAdvisor® Travelers’ Choice® Awards, and is internationally recognized as one of only nine “Great Wine Capitals.”  Visit www.VisitNapaValley.com for more information or to download the award-winning Visit Napa Valley Mobile App and join “The Napa Valley” community on Facebook, and follow @visitnapavalley on Twitter.

COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY

Among the new elements of the second annual festival is an enhanced emphasis on Napa Valley’s long-standing commitment to sustainability. Since enacting the first Agricultural Preserve in the United States in 1968 and carrying through today, Napa Valley has the most comprehensive and stringent land-use and environmental regulations of any winegrowing region. Napa Valley Vintners has a focus on sustainable agriculture, and certifies wineries via its Napa Green program. Further, many of the Valley’s chefs are leaders in the area of sustainable practices. In 2012 the festival will support this commitment in many ways including the requirement that all seafood served during the festival be sustainably harvested as outlined by the America’s Cup Healthy Ocean Project.
